CLASS STRUCTURE

Four classes will form the grid for Australian Formula Open:

AFO1 Open to FIA European Formula 3 cars from 2004 - 2012. These cars will be run to the given rule-set for the given year
AFO2 Open to FIA Formula 3 cars from 1999 - 2001, Australian Formula 4 (2015  -2019), Toyota Racing Series FT50, Formula Renault 2.0 (Tatuus FR2.0/13)
AF03 Invitational Class open to ‘Free Formula’ cars and cars eligible at the organiser’s discretion.
AFO4 Formula 4 class

RACE WEEKEND STRUCTURE

Australian Formula Open competes at a mixture of Motorsport Australia state level races and Motorsport Australia Nationals weekends in 2023 with a view to moving to a full Nationals weekend model in the future.

Each weekend consists of 155 minutes of track time with the breakdown as follows:

FRIDAY: 3 Practice x 20mins each (60mins total)
SATURDAY: 1 Qualifying x 20mins + 1 Race x 25mins (45mins total)
SUNDAY: 2 Races x 25mins (50mins total)
